Rising flood waters at Agnes Ck. S.A.

Agnes Creek with Full Moon rising the evening before the record breaking rains and then at 10 am the next day. The photos were taken from the bridge on the Stuart Highway. I was under threat of being stranded with rapidly rising water and made a 'close call' 100 kilometre treacherous sprint back to Marla. The Stuart Highway was starting to become inundated over most of the distance.

The section of road that is washed away (above) is the same road that was becoming inundated when I was sprinting - however intrepidly - back to Marla. The 'wash-away' photos were taken some days after the main flood and indicate the water level may have been a metre or more above the road. This particular wash-away was the main cause in delay for the road to be reopened to the north. Once the water receded a temporary dirt road was constructed.
