This 'softer scan' was made on a 3,200 DPI Imacon Flextight Photo scanner. The sharper scan (rollover) was made on 11.000 DPI Linotype - Hell drum scanner. Some lens flare may be present in the BL arc as is evident around the street light (bottom rigt corner).
However at the begining of the BL arc (top left) there is no point source of light evident from which it could have 'flared' from. This suggests the orange light is an electro magnetic field 'glowing' - like aurora light - rather than lens flare like was witnessed visually by myself and others. To the eye, to me, it looked roughly the size of perhaps a passenger jet plane or a rather large house as opposed to a tiny street light. The street light was also (over) exposed for the entire duration - approx. 5 minute exposure. Whereas the Ball Lightning exposure was only several seconds total.
The BL arc is beyond the ridgeline and about twice the distance away (approx. 22Km).
